Last Week's Show ~ Jenny Reese Clark

Christian Devotions SPEAK UP!
October 13
Author
Jenny Reese Clark

6:00 p.m. EST
Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as Scott discusses kicking the drug addiction with author Jenny Reese Clark.

Jenny Reese Clark is a living testimony of what true faith in Jesus Christ can bring.  As a multiple felon of various drug charges, including Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamines, Jenny is no stranger to breaking the rules and suffering the consequences.

In April of 2010, Jenny’s life hit an all-time low as she turned her back on the home burning behind her. As a result of a chemical interaction, the clandestine laboratory that she brought secretly into her sister’s home, exploded. As she took off, shoeless, she ran as far as she could to escape the consequences. With her sister’s pet dead inside and her relationships destroyed through her own betrayals, Jenny woke up as a Jane Doe on a ventilator in an ICU twenty-four hours later—knowing there was no way to come back from such destruction.

It wasn’t until Jenny went to prison on a fifteen year sentence and lost every relationship, possession, and privilege she ever had that she began to honestly understand her true need and dependency upon the Lord. She returned to her roots and picked up her biblical studies, this time clinging to every word … knowing it meant her life or death.
In her book, Field of Influence, you will see this passion unfold. It’s an extremely insightful look into the forbidden realm of drug addiction.

Tonight's Show ~ Jim Sonefeld

Christian Devotions SPEAK UP!
September 8
Hootie & the Blowfish Drummer
Jim Sonefeld

6:00 p.m. EST

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when Hootie & the Blowfish drummer Jim Sonefeld shares his testimony about how Jesus changed his gifts.
Jim Sonefeld, or Soni, as he's known by many, is the drummer for Hootie & the Blowfish and a Christian solo artist. He started his music career playing drums in the basement of his childhood home in Illinois. He was musically influenced by a variety of classic rock and R&B bands such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Blood, Sweat, & Tears, Elton John, and Led Zeppelin. At age twenty-one, while attending the University of South Carolina, Sonefeld joined his first band. Armed with what he describes as "a flashy mullet and a challenged fashion sense," he played in various cover bands around Columbia during the mid to late 80s. In1989, he joined up with some like-minded fellows called Hootie and the Blowfish, who were also attending the university.

The band toured regionally while honing their craft. After signing a record deal with Atlantic Records, the band released their full-length debut album Cracked Rear View in the summer of 1994. They have sold more than 25 million records since then and have toured worldwide. Sonefeld has been one of the main songwriters in the band, writing several of their early hits, including Hold my hand and Time. The band still plays a handful of shows yearly, which support the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation, based in South Carolina.

Sonefeld released his first solo CD, Snowman Melting, in 2008 on Aquarian Nation Records. It was a musical testimony of heartbreak, addiction, recovery, and hope. But in 2011, compelled by his growing Christian faith and more recent musical influences such as Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, and Jeremy Camp, he embarked upon his first contemporary Christian music project.

The result is his first CCM release entitled Found, recorded in August of 2011 in Nashville with producer Stan Lynch. On the five-song debut, Sonefeld brings a CD exploding musically and lyrically with a celebration of his faith, renewal, and delivery. His newest project is called Love. It is a celebration of faith with an urgent reminder of making the relationship with God a daily surrender.
